‘Manchester to Liverpool Ultra’ 2021 Race Update –

On 25th February we emailed all participants entered into the Manchester to Liverpool Ultra, M2L Ultra, with options for their race entry in the upcoming event on Good Friday 2nd April.  Once we receive your choice, we’ll ensure that everything is updated and arranged for you.

The latest government update for easing of restrictions states that from 29th March 2021, organised outdoor sporting events will be able to proceed, and on the 5th March, the Trail Running Association released a statement stating that they will begin to issue permits for trail running events from 15th March.

All COVID secure risk assessments and protocols have been submitted by GB Ultras over the last few months to the relevant associations, local councils and land-owner’s, and we are anticipating approval.

All permits that have been approved so far have been done so on a conditional basis, the condition being that the Government roadmap easing the restrictions goes ahead as planned on the scheduled dates.

However, this could result in last minute cancellation of the event should the Government not ease restrictions as planned. At the date of the race, there will still be restrictions in place with regard to booking accommodation.

Therefore, we understand that some participants may still not be able to make the event, together with the impact on training for the event due to restrictions on movement, and as such we would also like to extend the options below to participants who have not yet made their decision at this time:

Remain in the 2021 event – if you choose this option please be reassured that if for any reason the event cannot proceed you will be offered further options upon cancellation. One of the aspects of ensuring our event is COVID secure and compliant with Government Guidelines is the introduction of a staggered start to the event from 6am-8am.

Start times will be dictated by your ‘marathon personal best’ time order. If you are planning to remain on the start line for the 2nd April 2021 date, we need you to update the following details on your existing race entry.

Fastest Marathon Time (in hours and minutes).Full postal address for your Bib No (with timing chip attached) to be sent to. This can be added to your existing race entry by updating your original race entry HERE.

Please note that your login details have been supplied in your confirmation email.  This can be resent on request. Please also send email confirmation stating this is the option you have chosen.  We understand you may have logged into your account and updated your marathon PB time for staying in the 2021 event, we are asking for you to please email us with this as your chosen option.

Failure to supply a marathon time will result in you being allocated a start time in the final wave.

Defer to the 2022 M2L
The 2022 edition of the M2L Ultra will be held on the provisional date of Good Friday 15th April 2022 – subject to Manchester United’s event fixtures.  By choosing this option, your place will be deferred to the race next year and your place on the start line will be secured.

Receive a voucher
You can opt to choose a voucher for the value of your original race entry fee. This can be used towards any future GB Ultras event until 31/12/2023 (subject to availability of places). Alternatively, the voucher can be used towards purchase of GB Ultras merchandise or entry to one of our virtual races.

**Please note that due to the unknown match day 2021-2022 fixture list for Manchester United there is NOT an option to defer the Manchester to Liverpool Ultra to a date later in the year, only to defer to 2022**
