What is a GB Ultras Ambassador?

A role model for runners and members of the GB Ultras Community to look up to, that give advice and support to others, AND encourage and inspire through words and actions.

Why do we have Ambassadors?

GB Ultras Ambassadors are kind, caring, positive and supportive members of the community, they lead by example and help communicate the supportive values and visions of GB Ultras.

Online, on a checkpoint, on the mountains or on the start line, we believe that by showing true sportsmanship, inspiring others brings the GB Ultras Community alive.

We’re looking for a limited number of new members to join our GB Ultras Ambassador team and become the rising stars of the GB Ultras Community.

Who can apply to become a GB Ultras Ambassador?

The GB Ultras Ambassador programme encourages experienced ultra-runners to become part of the GB Ultras team.

Ambassadors are asked to give up some of their time to encourage the community to be active, healthy and to get involved in events.

In addition, Ambassadors are expected to provide support to other members and share their experiences at our events within the GB Ultras Community Facebook group and on our race pages on both Facebook and Instagram.

Ideal candidates are from the health, fitness and/or running related industry however GB Ultras encourage others outside of this area to apply if they feel they fully meet the requirements of the role and commit to the Role Expectations throughout the whole of the year. Applications for the programme can be submitted when our application stages open every 12 months. Applicants are to bear in mind that submissions will be reviewed, shortlisted and selected at closing date of applications.

Due to the high volume of submissions received and the limited number of places available, we are not able to approve every application and unsuccessful applicants are able to resubmit for the following year following notification of their application being unsuccessful.

Application Criteria:

To become a GB Ultras Ambassador, an individual must have previously achieved either of the following:

• Participated in at least 1 GB Ultras Event
• Volunteered in at least 1 GB Ultras Event or had a substantial positive impact on the Community, i.e through fundraising

In addition, an individual must have continually demonstrated the following:

• Be a proactive and positive member of the GB Ultras Community Group on Facebook and/or our individual event pages on Facebook or Instagram
• Demonstrate qualities in line with our Mission Statement, Vision and Values

GB Ultras Ambassador Role Expectations:

Each Ambassador will be expected to fufil the following throughout the whole of the 12 months that they are appointed.

• Follow the GB Ultras Code of Conduct (issued following a successful application)
• Participate in at least 1 GB Ultras Event within a race season that you are appointed as an Ambassador
• Volunteer in at least 1 GB Ultras Event within a race season that you are appointed as an Ambassador
• Support/attend/lead with at least 1 Official GB Ultras pre-event training day/recce run to help introduce the course to runners
• Throughout the whole of the year, be an active member of the GB Ultras Social Media Community responding to questions, contributing to discussions and sharing your experiences of GB Ultras races that you have taken part in with community members.
• If possible, promote and take part in, Official Marketing Strategies including stalls, shows/talks and social media campaigns.
